"Sensei how do you say Pilot in japanese?"

When I was doing Master of Music in UNSW at age 24, I taught at Montessori school as a part time Japanese teacher.


My first job ever and had no idea what I was doing.      

Nicholas and Victoria at age 12 and 8 were in my first Japanese class.


I still remember Nicholas told me that he wants to be a pilot when he grows up and asked me “Susie Sensei, how do You say “pilot” in Japanese”?

I had no freaking idea so I made up some random crap that sounding like part of Chinese part of Japanese and went to the toilet to google.


Many years on,  Nicolas is now really a pilot. ( a good looking one too).

When I saw his pilot photo, the level of my proudness  is so high that you have no idea. Nicholas is getting married next year and your good old Susie sensei wishes you all the best.

Still I have no freaking idea how to say “pilot” in Japanese until this day.
